Who We Are

Avera Energy was founded on a simple belief: renewable energy assets perform best when developed and managed on honest, credible foundations.

We are a clean energy company in Malaysia that develops, finances, owns, and operates solar and battery energy storage assets across Southeast Asia. From early-stage advisory and financial structuring through to engineering, construction, and long-term asset management, we take responsibility for the full asset lifecycle.

As part of the Avera Group, we leverage broader capabilities in infrastructure financing, asset management, and carbon development, enabling an integrated approach to delivering complex projects that few platforms can match.

Behind Our Name

Avera is derived from the Latin word for “truth”, a principle that defines how we operate. We communicate clearly, set realistic expectations, and structure every engagement with transparency so clients know exactly what to expect and what they can hold us to.

Avera Energy is a registered Photovoltaic Service Provider (RPVSP) and Solar Photovoltaic Investor (RPVI) with the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA), and is recognised by the Energy Commission (ST), myHijau and the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia. We also hold a CIDB Malaysia G7 contractor licence.

Ng Yew Weng

Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Ng Yew Weng is a renewable energy executive and entrepreneur with experience spanning corporate strategy, project development, and large-scale solar deployment. He co-founded Progressture Solar and served as the Chief Operating Officer, playing a central role in scaling the company into one of Malaysia’s established solar developers and EPCC providers within four years.

During his tenure, he secured and delivered more than RM130 million worth of rooftop and utility-scale solar projects across Southeast Asia. He also built a structured pipeline of commercial and industrial renewable energy developments while overseeing project execution, commercial structuring, and strategic partnerships.

Yew Weng has worked with multinational and publicly listed organisations, including Shell, Petron, Alcom, and Hibiscus Petroleum, advising on sustainability initiatives and clean energy integration strategies. His professional background covers the energy, technology, media, and advertising industries. He holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Honours) from University of Nottingham.

Kelvin Wong

Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer

Kelvin brings over a decade of operational leadership experience in large-scale industrial environments. Prior to joining Avera Energy, he served as General Manager within a publicly listed manufacturing group, where he oversaw production management, process optimisation, cost governance, supply chain operations, and quality assurance.

At Avera Energy, Kelvin leads operational strategy, project delivery, and organisational performance across the business. His manufacturing background translates into the operational rigour required for large-scale energy projects, delivering on cost, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.

Kelvin holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Business Management from Lancaster University, United Kingdom.
